O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree, o how we’ll recycle thee for free…

Residents can tick one thing off their post-Christmas to-do list by recycling their real Christmas trees for free with the District Council’s fortnightly Garden Waste Collection service.

From Thursday 2 until Friday 31 January 2020, SDC can collect your real Christmas tree for free with their Garden Waste Collection Service that will visit your road once a fortnight.  All the trees they collect are turned into environmentally friendly compost.

Residents need simply put their tree by the boundary of their property, where they normally place their refuse or recycling sacks, by 7am on the day the Council’s fortnightly Garden Waste Collection service takes place on their road.

Trees should not be potted or on a stand, and must be free of decorations before being put out for recycling.
Residents unsure when the service is visiting their road can go to www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/collectiondays

If your tree has a trunk more than 89mm (3.5″ in diameter) we cannot collect it.
Trees with a trunk exceeding 90mm can be recycled at one of Kent County Council’s (KCC) Household Waste Recycling sites. Visit www.kent.gov.uk/recycling or call KCC on 03000 417373 for locations and opening times.
