SDC confirmed last week that the draft Local Plan, due to be debated by SDC in March and released for consultation thereafter will not now be ready until June 2018. In turn this means that the public consultation on the plan will not take place until the summer.
The delay has apparently been caused by the number of cases for ‘exceptional circumstances’ which have been submitted to SDC
SDC report that they are currently ‘ focusing our attention on sites which suggest there are ‘exceptional circumstances’ related to their development. We are undertaking a review of deliverability and other material considerations, including any promoted social and community benefits which could facilitate a proposed development and address evidenced infrastructure deficiencies in an area. ‘ One of these sites is of course the Which Way Westerham proposal by the Squerryes Estate which Westerham residents rejected in the vote held in October 2017.
Your Council continues to work with others, including our own District Councillors to represent Westerham residents views to both SDC and KCC and to ensure that their views are taken into account in decisions made.
As ever it will continue to Keep You Informed.
